WOOT: Sonic the Hedghog 4 Episode 2 announced for 2012

About damn time!

From Eurogamer:

The second episode of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 won't be launching until 2012 - well over a year after the first installment of SEGA's episodic series launched in 2010.

"This year, 2011, is the anniversary, so we're focusing on the celebration title," Sonic Team's Takashi Iikuza told Eurogamer, "But moving forward to 2012, Sonic will still be going, so I'd hope to provide Episode 2 then."

Make it happen Sega! Sonic 4 Episode 1 was a massive step in the right direction for the Sonic franchise.

Here is the latest video from November's Sonic Generations showing us 5 minutes of gameplay showing us the Chemical Plant and City Escape levels. Let's have a look:

VIDEO: Sonic Through the Ages

Sega has just posted a slick new video celebrating Sonic's 20th Anniversary giving you a tour through all the major games thus far. It leads up to some new footage from Sonic Generations, which at this point in the Sonic Cycle is looking rad.

Let's have a look:

Here's the latest trailer for Sonic Generations. I'm trying to avoid getting sucked into the so-called "Sonic Cycle", but let's have a look anyway:

Please please don't suck...

New Sonic Generations gameplay footage

Here's an unfortunately blurry, yet long video showing off the hybrid game style of Sonic Generations:

Look, i really want to get super excited for this (I do, really!) - But I know the Sonic Cycle all too well... It's just almost too good to be true. But that said, we've got old school meets new school Sonic game play (this could either be really awesome or totally horrible)and no hint of any friends (Tails and Knuckles are always welcome in my dojo).

Don't fuck this up Sega.

(ps- Sonic 4 Episodes 2? is this even going to happen?)

In other news, I managed to score 3 StreetPass tags the other night (standing around a GameStop when people are picking up pre-orders was a good idea!). Two of said tags also had Street Fighter 4 data. I won both figure matches, then promptly blew about 8,000FP on Figure Slots. Once the 3DS reaches critical mass StreetPass is going to be a pretty slick functionality. I'm really excited to see what is in store for this functionality.
