Radiant Silvergun XBLA to include arcade and Saturn modes

Check this out!

Players can select to play the game in Arcade and Saturn modes, representing the two platforms the original first appeared on. All the gameplay systems are in tact, of course, as is the background music from Hitoshi Sakimoto.

New features for the XLA version include:

Two player cooperative play via Xbox Live.
Online score rankings.
Upload and download player data. This will let you watch high quality play from around the world.
Greatly improved visuals. You can also play using the original graphics, though.
As a hidden bonus, an Ikaruga shooting style mode.

Wicked! Radiant Silvergun is one of the more rare Sega Saturn titles, and is highly sought after by collectors. It's one of the more hard core shoot-em-up titles I've ever played (same goes for the semi-sequel, Ikaruga) - so be ready for a challenge.

SLOW NEWS DAY: SEGA Rally Online video!

The classic arcade racer returns as a downloadable title on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3, and hot damn does it look look nice. The original game was a blast in arcades and on the Saturn, and adding proper online multiplayer sounds like a winning combination. Priced right this might sell like hotcakes.

Guardian Heroes HD!!!

This is news that should get every old-school gaming geek worked up - Seems Sega is planing a HD remake of Guardian Heroes as a downloadable title on the PSN and XBL stores.

"Ever since we began to make Sega's classic Dreamcast and Mega Drive [Genesis] titles available for modern systems, the fan response has been overwhelming," said Haruki Satomi, VP of Digital Business at Sega. "The demand for their favorite games has been pouting in. Players have been clamoring for [Guardian Heroes, a] treasured favorite from the Saturn days, and we cannot wait to show them what we have got for them."

3 words come to mind... BRING IT ON!

With any luck this will lead to more Saturn titles coming to modern platforms. What a way to expose the masses to the *BEST* 2D powerhouse that ever lived?!

Security alert issues by Microsoft - COD:MW2 Phishing attempts

From Xbox Support:

Users may experience difficulties with the following services:

Users may receive potential phishing attempts via title specific messaging while playing Modern Warfare 2.

We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience

This is nowhere near the scale of Sony's current security problems, but it's worth sharing anyway. If you're still rockin' COD:MW2 on the 360, be careful out there!

RAGEFACE: PSN outage, Day 4

Sony's Playstation Network is *still* down.

The latest from the Playstation Blog says:

We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.

We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.

"Re-building out system"? What the hell? What exactly is going on here? This seems like something more than a simple network intrusion. And what sort of "additional security" does Sony have in mind here? Does this have anything to do with the Amazon EC2 outage?

Basically at this point, Sony needs to make with some real answers. Even for a free service, 4 days of downtime? Over Easter Weekend (which can either be a long weekend or the end of April vacation for some)? Come on! I can't imagine how angry everyone who picked up SOCOM 4 this week has to be right now.

Thank goodness XBL is still up...

Current Gaming and such

Hello there everyone - it's been a while since my last update and i am sorry for that.

Anyway i am currently playing Blur on the 360 and having a BLAST. I was a part of the beta test for this game's online play, and to be quiet honest i've actually yet to even crack open the single player game. The multiplayer is simply addictive and fun - and when you get a full lobby of 20 racers the game gets flat out INSANE.

For those unaware, Blur is at it's core a clone of Mario Kart. You're racing realistic car and collect power ups along the track. Blur has the benefit of being able to leverage XBL/PSN thus making online play with friends a snap. Blur also differs from Mario Kart in that you're allowed to hold up to 3 power ups at any given time, and may toggle between them with a press of a button.

The only thing holding Blur back from being practically flawless is the lack of split screen support over XBL/PSN (something Mario Kart Wii has and imo is an amazing feature). That said, i feel this game is a solid 8/10. If you can get a good deal on the game, don't resist!

In other news... as some of you may have assumed, i have taken the plunge and upgraded to Playstation Plus.

I then promptly cleaned the PSN out of this month's free content ;)

Until next time!
